Lost at Sea

This collection is part of what I call my ‘political poems’. It all started while I was studying in university in the UK,  when it came to my realisation that the ideal world of the serene Maldives only existed in my imagination; that in reality people were being arrested, tortured, and even killed at the whim and fancy of those who controlled almost all aspects of our lives.
A lot of the poems were written during a time when the struggle for the overthrow of the autocratic rule of President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom was going on. Some of the poetry was written in desperation.
